3D File Converters and Export Workflows

Choose a local file converter or a clearly labeled external-editor workflow. Preserve your original before changing formats.

Convert a local file

These tools process static geometry in your browser. They do not generate a new model, fix topology or prove that a mesh will print. Check the supported input and the information lost before exporting.

RouteWhat it does
GLB → STLGeometry only; choose height in millimeters. Materials and animation are not included.
GLB → OBJStatic geometry export; no textures or MTL.
OBJ → GLBStatic geometry with a neutral preview material; no MTL or image import.
STL → GLBGeometry into a browser-viewable container; no color is recovered from STL.

FBX requires an external editor

Follow the Blender FBX handoff guide. Image3D does not provide a browser FBX exporter. The guide is deliberately separate from the working conversion tools above.

Choose by your destination

For browser previews, retain the original GLB when you need its materials. For printing, use geometry in your slicer and verify size, walls and supports. For an engine, follow the pipeline's requirements; a file extension does not create a rig, collision shapes or efficient topology.

Inspect before and after

Open the exported file again. Compare orientation, dimensions and geometry against the original. If your source contains animation, compression or external dependencies that a converter does not support, re-export a suitable static file in an editor. Use the model viewer and printing preparation guide for the next checks.

Continue with your model

Choose a real next step: generate a starting mesh, inspect a file, or download a source-credited example.
