Free 3D Model Generator:
Create 3D Models from Images at No Cost
Image3D gives every new account 200 free credits — enough for 20 free 3D model generations from any image. No credit card. No software to install. Upload an image and get a textured 3D mesh in seconds.
What Is a Free 3D Model Generator?
A 3D model generator from images uses AI to convert a 2D photograph or illustration into a three-dimensional mesh with textures. Instead of spending hours manually modeling in Blender or Maya, you upload one image and the AI reconstructs the 3D geometry — including depth, surface materials, and texture mapping — automatically.
Image3D is a free 3D model generator that works from a single image. You do not need dozens of photos from different angles (that is photogrammetry, which is slower and more complex). One image. Ten to ninety seconds. A real exportable 3D file.
The free tier gives you 200 credits on signup — enough for 20 Standard-quality generations. This is sufficient to fully evaluate the quality before spending anything, whether you are a product designer, game developer, e-commerce seller, or 3D printing enthusiast.

How to Generate a Free 3D Model from an Image
- Go to Image3D Studio. Open image3d.io/tool in your browser. Click Sign In and use your Google or GitHub account. Account creation is instant and free — no credit card, no form to fill out.
- Your 200 free credits are added immediately. You will see your credit balance in the top-right corner of the Studio. These are real credits for real generation — not a trial watermarked preview.
- Upload your image. Drag and drop a PNG or JPG into the upload area, or click to browse. Files up to 20 MB are accepted. For best results, use a single-subject image with a plain or white background.
- Select Standard quality. Standard costs 10 credits (covered by your free balance). Generation takes about 10 seconds. You can try Pro or Ultra quality once you have tested Standard on your images.
- Click Generate. The AI runs depth estimation and mesh reconstruction. A progress bar shows each stage. The entire process completes in 10–15 seconds for Standard quality.
- Inspect in the 3D viewer. Rotate the model in all directions. The viewer is free and unlimited — you can spend as long as you want inspecting the result.
- Download your 3D model. Export as GLB (first 3 free), OBJ, STL, or PLY. Your 3D model is ready to use in Blender, Unity, on a 3D printer, or embedded on a website.
Tips to Get the Best Free Results
- Use AI-generated images as input. Images from Midjourney, Flux, DALL-E, Firefly, or Stable Diffusion tend to have clean backgrounds and strong depth cues — ideal for 3D generation. They consistently produce better results than casual phone photos of cluttered scenes.
- Prompt for a white or plain background. If using an AI generator as your source, include "white background, studio lighting" in your prompt. This is the single biggest improvement you can make to free-tier output quality.
- Start with Standard, then go Pro. Use your free Standard credits to test which image types convert well for your use case. Once you find a good source image, spend paid credits on Pro quality for the final production asset.
- Use GLB for web, STL for printing. GLB (free first 3 downloads) includes textures and works everywhere — websites, AR, game engines. STL is texture-free but compatible with every 3D printer slicer.
- One subject per generation. Crop multi-subject images to the main subject before uploading. 20 free generations go further when each one is a clean, focused conversion.
Free vs Paid: When to Upgrade
The free tier is genuinely useful for most exploratory and prototyping work. Here is when it makes sense to use paid credits:
- Pro quality (100 credits) — when you need full PBR materials (roughness, metalness, normal maps) for realistic rendering in Unity, Unreal, or Three.js. Standard textures look good; Pro looks accurate.
- Ultra quality (350 credits) — for hero 3D assets, high-resolution 3D prints, or applications where maximum polygon count matters. Up to 1 million faces versus Standard's simpler mesh.
- More than 20 generations — when you are processing multiple products, iterating on designs, or running a workflow that converts images to 3D regularly.
